The San Antonio marathon was a wonderful experience. Besides enjoying myself, I set a new personal best time! My chip time indicates I finished in 3 hours, 54 minutes but my clock time shows 4 hours, 15 minutes. Needless to say I prefer the chip time, but am very proud of myself either way.
The chip and clock time differ because the former utilizes a computer chip that is given to every participant to allow individualized tracking during the marathon. The marathoners attach the chip to their clothing or shoes and can therefore be tracked from the beginning of the event to the end. My family and friends are usually able to track me online as the event unfolds!
The clock time begins when the event officially starts, it's not very efficient because it's impossible for all the runners to be at the start line simultaneously. A computerized mat (reads the chip) allows for an individualized start time when participants cross it, hence the difference in clock and chip times. Technology is everywhere!

Good job!!
Lucy,
I enjoy my quilting and have too many projects to get done for Christmas presents! I have a Janome Memory Craft 6500 professional quilting machine (about $650). It's heavier duty than a regular machine. Especially since I use it a lot. Online: www.janome.com
Eventually I would love to have a long arm quilting machine, but those are several thousands of dollars!! But the quilting is beautiful! Maybe when I'm done with the DNP program that will be my graduation present!!

What a good example of yet another use of new technology. Again, the chip is a new concept for me. I can see how the chip would be more accurate than the clock time.
Congrats for finishing the marathon. I have never been a runner but I admire those who put in the work to train for marathons!
It is amazing Technology is now every where! Thanks for the good course you pertook. You did well despite the knee injury you sustained earlier. You are also helping your heart LOL!
